Nice to meet you: Culinary Collisions in 100 sec.

Part of the 8. Asia-Pacific-Weeks 2011

Multimedia Competition

The subject of the competition entries is food; of Berlin’s 3.4 million inhabitants, more than 500,000 have an international background. This inevitably leads to a mixture of likes and dislikes, habits and experiences, which express themselves first and foremost in our food culture.

Döner or sushi? Falafel or boulette? Barbeque or coffee morning? What culinary delicacies or oddities are out there waiting to be discovered in Berlin and/or Germany? And do they not, now and then, lead to the occasional misunderstanding, or culinary collision?

From 1 April on, applicants could upload collages, synchronized or filmed narratives, comedies, short mysteries or music clips on this topic. All formats are allowed but their duration may not exceed 100 sec. A high-profile jury selected three prize-winners from the entries submitted, who will receive 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000 euro respectively.

The finale of the virtual competition on 17 September at 7 p.m. is also the closing event of the Asia-Pacific Weeks. Also in on the act: TV chef Ole Plogstedt with a live cooking program, music by the UDK choir ‘The Fabulous Fridays’, Manne & Günther, Afro Hesse and Anis Tunsi. The evening also features the winners of the multimedia competition Nice to meet you – Kulinarische Kollisionen in 100 sec. Followed by a party with DJ GeneticdruGs.
