Anthropocene Campus | Disciplinarities

Sat, Nov 15, 2014 presented by Bronislaw Szerszynski; co-developed with Mark Lawrence and Wolfgang Schäffner

What is the status of the various cosmologies and worldviews in the Anthropocene? Can worldviews be synthetically combined or does one view dominate the other? The phenomenologist and social theorist Bronislaw Szerszynski explains the problem of cultural power of interpretation and definition along the concepts of Jacques Derrida and Eduardo Viveiros de Castro using the example of Yanömami cosmology.

Bronislaw Szerszynski is director of the Sociology Department at Lancaster University.
