“His show has an endlessly sunny energy,” raves not only the New York Times. In the course of his 40-year career, Jorge Ben Jor has gone through a remarkable development. In the 1960s, he celebrated love, Samba, and street culture. The 70s took him through an African-inspired Funk phase. At the end of the decade, when he arrived at disco, which is very current again, he had found his style. Supported by horns, percussionists, bass, and drums, Ben Jor breaks his surging electric guitar rhythms in syncopated sound patterns; one lick variation comes after the other, while percussion shapes the Samba-like rhythms around the driving pulse of the front man. Don’t forget your sunglasses!
