What would happen if the power shut off and music were silenced? The trees would still be here. With his documentary Unplugged, director Mladen Kovačević explores the tradition of leaf-playing, music made with natural means in rural Serbia.
The former private detective Vera and the farmer Pera each keep the art form alive in their own way while Josip, an amateur inventor, attempts to decipher their secrets. More than a pure documentary, Unplugged is also an existential parable about the joy of the supposedly simple and about music as an escape from everyday normality.
