Caoimhín Breathnach & Jennifer Walshe, AN GLÉACHT

Exploring how acts of refusal are practiced through altered states of consciousness, silence and rituals, Sunday's out of doors program brings together a series of sound performances and conversation.

Examining the embedded politics of listening, the program questions common ways of knowing the world. In their conversation Frances Scott, Dave Tompkins, Stine Hebert and Beth Bramich assemble fragments of film and audio recordings from the work of composer Wendy Carlos through her interests in cartography, physics, mathematics, astronomy and practice in solar eclipse photography. Mario Vega and Tomomi Adachi perform live to a screening of Jennifer Walshe’s film AN GLÉACHT that builds a speculative portrait of outsider artist Caoimhín Breathnach and his idiosyncratic, esoteric system of correspondences. Followed by a performance from Nazanin Noori that explores the Sufist state of ḥāl and Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening methods.

Afterwards there will be a DJ set by GASH Collective with ELLLL & Lolz at HKW’s Weltwirtschaft.
