Alberto Pitta
Alberto Pitta (1961, Salvador de Bahia, Brazil) is a visual and Carnival artist. For forty years he has been developing research work and artistic creations, being one of the first artists to create what is now known as Afro-Bahian print, using symbols, tools, clothing, and ornaments of the orishas as a source of inspiration. Pitta’s works—paintings, drawings, fabrics, clothes, objects, and serigraphs—are visual testimonies of a ‘contemporary ancestry’. His works have been exhibited around the world, in countries such as Germany, Angola, the US, France, and the UK.
