Alice von Bieberstein

Alice von Bieberstein is guest professor at the Institute for European Ethnology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her work is concerned with political violence, state formation and political economy with a focus on the afterlives of the Armenian genocide through land and property in Turkish Kurdistan. She has co-edited the book Reverberations: Violence across Time and Space (2021) and her articles have appeared in various journals. Her book Temptations in Ruin: Sovereign Accumulation and the Making of Post-Genocide Turkey is forthcoming with University of Pennsylvania Press. Von Bieberstein lives and works in Berlin.
