Angelika Nguyen is an author, film journalist, and film curator. She grew up as the child of a German language professional and a Vietnamese doctor in the GDR, studied film studies at the Babelsberg Film Academy, and in 1991 made the documentary Bruderland ist abgebrannt about the Vietnamese diaspora in East Berlin, which was rediscovered in 2017 and has since been shown in exhibitions and at festivals. She has published texts on racism in her childhood, East Germany as a place of remembrance, migration in East and West, and films as an emotional and political mirror of the world. Nguyen lives and works in Berlin.
