Aura Pieski is a pedagogue, who is committed to Sámi culture and Indigenous education. Pieski is involved in land-based, locally controlled, culturally relevant, and empowering education for Sámi youth in their native language. Working with Elders has shaped Pieski’s approach, bringing aspects of these insights into her educational practices and her life. In addition to teaching, Pieski has written and published learning material and books in Sámi language. She is also working with local Sámi communities on issues related to self-determination, human and non-human rights, and climate justice. Pieski lives and works in Ohcejohka, Finland.
