DeLovie Kwagala, also known as Papa De, is the first openly non-binary queer photographer from Uganda as well as an award-winning multi-anti-disciplinary visual artist, film-maker, and staunch human rights advocate. Kwagala's work deals with gender identity, notions of home and belonging, migration, displacement, and their interconnectedness with the urgent realm of climate justice. Kwagala clinched the prestigious East African Photography Award in 2021 and their work has been published in magazines such as Time Magazine, Photo Vogue, and The Guardian, among others. Kwagala is the founder of HashTagWhatNext Collective and Afrikkan Pride.
