Ibrahima Wane is a professor of African literature and civilizations at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar and director of the laboratory of African societies, languages, and literature at the faculty of arts and humanities. His research focuses on oral poetry, popular music, political imagination, and urban cultures in West Africa. His publications include ‘Political Struggle in Senegal in 1960s and 1970s: The Artistic and Literary Front’, in Revolutionary Movements in Africa. An Untold Story (2024) and Le 1er Festival mondial des Arts nègres: mémoire et actualité (The first world festival of negro arts: memory and relevance, co-edited with Saliou Mbaye, 2020).
