Natalia Papaeva is a performance and visual artist. She is a resident at Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and at the Saint Petersburg State University. Her practice uses language as a tool to investigate the consequences of colonialism expressed through spoken and written language, reenactment of phrases, as well as songs in Buryat language. Recent exhibitions include: Outside the Text, Post, Nijmegen, 2023; Trauma, Monolog Gallery, Belgrade, 2023; and Dissolving Earths, Het Nieuwe Instituut, Online exhibition, 2023. Papaeva lives and works in the Netherlands.
