Sachiko Koshikoku
Sachiko Koshikoku (1937–2019) was an abstract painter whose work combined references from East Asian calligraphy and the geometry and motifs of pre-Columbian textiles. She studied drawing and visual arts at the University of Fukui, in Japan, and exhibited her work in Tokyo before migrating to Brazil in 1965. Her paintings were presented in the 9th Bienal de São Paulo, in 1967, and in the first Panorama da Arte Atual Brasileira, in 1969. Koshikoku had a solo exhibition at Museu de Arte de São Paulo, in 1981, and participated in group shows in the United States and Japan.
