Samirah Kenawi

Samirah Kenawi is a carpenter and graduate engineer. She founded the GrauZone archive, which documents East Germany’s women’s and lesbian movements. After 1989, she began studying economics, which led to her development of a monetary theory that she published in four volumes from 2020 to 2023 under the collective title Die Quadratur des Geldes. The volumes are the first to contain a comprehensive history of money from the creation of coinage to the development of modern monetary credit systems as well as a comprehensive reform proposal. Kenawi lives and works in Frankfurt am Main.
