Sandra Vásquez de la Horra
Sandra Vásquez de la Horra is an artist. Her work explores mythology, spirituality, and the human psyche. She primarily draws with graphite pencil and watercolour on paper, then dips her works in wax, creating a surreal, translucent effect. Her motifs include memories of Pinochet’s military junta in Chile, folklore, and fairy tales. She studied visual communications at the University for Design in Viña del Mar, Chile, and continued at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Kunsthochschule für Medien, Cologne. Recent exhibitions include Das Rauschen des Kosmos, Akademie der Künste, Berlin, 2024 and The Awake Volcanoes, Denver Art Museum, 2024. Vásquez de la Horra lives and works in Berlin.
