Sonia E. Barrett
Sonia E. Barrett is a visual artist who seeks to disrupt the comfortable spaces of neo-liberal capitalism. She works with furniture as an archive for black political emotion. Barrett works to institute and reclaim space for envisioning and enacting a new world in partnership with others. She is a MacDowel and Yale Artist fellow and has been recognized by the Premio Ora Prize and the Neo Art Prize, and is a recent recipient of the Dakar Biennale Sculpture Award. Recent exhibitions include the Wake Dakar Biennale, 2024; and Tate Britain Galleries, London, 2024. Barrett Lives and works in England.
