Sultan Usuvaliev

Sultan Usuvaliev is a film scholar, candidate of art criticism, head of the association of film critics of Kyrgyzstan, and lecturer at the TV, Film and Media Arts Department of American University of Central Asia. His research interests include the history of Kyrgyz cinema, contemporary film criticism and documentary filmmaking. He is the compiler and editor of Armen Medvedev's book The Conjunctive Mood. Conversations on the History of Soviet Cinema (2023). He is currently working on a research project on Kyrgyz cinema of the 1990s and 2000s. Sultan lives and works in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
