Theo Eshetu
Theo Eshetu is an artist. He utilizes diverse video formats to explore cinematic representations and the visual grammar of moving images. A common theme is the stitching of histories – from European imperialism to African modernity – to reach a unique aesthetic that captures the interrelation between world cultures and communal knowledge. Recent exhibitions include Africa and Byzantium, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2024; Ethiopia at the Crossroads, The Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, 2024; and The Sum of all Parts, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York 2020–present. Eshetu lives and works in Berlin.
