In a joint dialogue, older people from the performance ensemble Spielunikate, based in the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf, and contemporary witnesses from the former brother countries embark on a journey through time. Together they explore the points of contact between GDR citizens and former contract workers, asking what constituted unifying moments and also the ways that division manifested between the two groups.

How might such history inform understanding today and what might be unlearned? The results of this exchange culminate in a playful, interactive performance format that also creates space for further discussion.

Spielunikate is a performance ensemble that grew out of the projects ANSPIEL and Die Marzahner Promenade spricht by Seraphina Lenz.

The fifteen performers are: Hannelore Eckert, Wilma Florath, Christine Hemme, Monika Kegel, Hans-Heino Luxa, Tomma Luxa, Kirsten Müller, Bodo Orejuela, Anja Paetsch, Carla Petermann, Tanja Preuß, Torsten Preuß, Ilka Saegebarth, Christel Sickers, and Uwe Sickers
