This informational/in-action workshop challenges invited artists to rethink new narratives about the archives related to the history of Angolan workers in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in the late 1980s. The workshop is based on the research project moderated by curator Luamba Muinga, titled ‘The Vertragsarbeiter’, which traces the lives of thousands of Angolans sent to the GDR to work as part of a nation-building project.
