L is for the Way You Look at Me

Discursive Programme

2025–2027

L is for the Way You Look at Me unfolds a series of workshops, screenings, talks, reading groups, and convivial events that constitute HKW’s discursive programme between 2025 and 2027. Seeing ‘discourse’ as a system of knowledge-production and meaning-making that comes into effect through the verbal, the corporeal, and the sensory, this programme moves among different disciplines while exploring the re-imagination and re-enactment of love. Each year, the programme departs from one relevant theme to renew and expand the possible actions for looking and loving.

The 2025 edition unfolds through the microscopic lens, peering into the cohabitation and co-metabolization among organisms, which lays the foundation for the condition of being alive. Fermentation, symbiosis, and other microbial intra- and interactions permeate our surroundings, daily routines, and ancestral lineages, forming visible and invisible liveliness that relies on various scales of intimacy. Echoing the many interactions among the many organisms on many scales, the programme imagines various ways of being and becoming together.
