Remember you were loved
I felt your spirit grow
I held on for the love of you
And then for love let go

Lemn Sissay's performance features readings from his memoir My Name Is Why, chronicling his experiences in the British foster care system. Blending spoken word and storytelling, Sissay explores themes of self-discovery, attachment, and personal transformation.

The performance brings to life Sissay's journey of being separated from his Ethiopian heritage, the hardship he experiences in foster care, and his quest to reclaim his name and identity. Through his powerful narrative, audiences gain insight into the challenges that shaped his life and work.
