Amina Jama opens this year’s Middle Ground festival with a performance from A Warning to the House That Holds Me. Her poetry delves into the relationship between identity and displacement, as well as Somali history, skillfully intertwining heritage with personal empowerment. Drawing from Somali storytelling traditions and inspired by Frida Kahlo, Jama’s work confronts generational trauma and the bonds of motherhood. Her performance serves both as a tribute to her homeland and a reclamation of power, with a voice that is bold and vulnerable, inviting audiences to reflect on belonging and displacement.

Due to the 2024 Berlin Marathon, between 27–29 September there are road closures in the area. HKW is fully accessible via public transport—S-Bahn (Hauptbahnhof) and U-Bahn (Bundestag)—and via bike or on foot.
