Kanon-Fragen

2016—2019

With Kanon-Fragen, since 2016 HKW has been developing research-based exhibitions that grapple critically with the canonization of modernity. They not only add more chapters to the canon established in the museums, but question their structures, the art itself, their place in society and their economic function. How can colonial appropriations and exclusions of the past be rectified without the expansion of the canon becoming yet another appropriation?
