The Anthropocene Project

Michael Taussig and Bernd Scherer

To write about the sun, one should know darkness. Ethnological thinking in a single sentence. The second sentence goes into the colors that the light of the sun produces for our eyes, the heat that goes through our bodies, lets the fruits of the field grow or dry out. Up through the sympathetic magic that humanity has always spanned between nature and culture, with which we interweave the two so inseparably with one another. Ethnological thoughts on the Anthropocene: Michael Taussig in conversation with Bernd Scherer. HKW Talk on the Anthropocene - Working on the Sun, you must see the Darkness - Michael Taussig (Department of Anthropology, Columbia University, New York) and Bernd M. Scherer (director Haus der Kulturen der Welt)
