It may no longer be visible but as an internal border, it left its mark on many people’s lives and memories – the erstwhile Schengen border between old and new EU member states. From the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic, seven Europeans tell us about their memories and experiences along this frontier, of the search for orientation between the relics of Communism and the rapid developments in a globalized world. After a three-month journey with presentations and discussions in 40 locations along the former border, the film will now be screened in Berlin.

Karl Schlögel, historian and publicist, introduces the topos of the border as a space of European experience and memory in a discussion with the film-makers/project managers Simon Brunel and Nicolas Pannetier (Atelier LIMO). Moderator: Stephan Felsberg
