Between 1975 and 1979, the Chilean director Juan Forch and his then partner Vivienne Barry made several politically-engaged films at the Trickfilmstudio Dresden. The animated collages Chile Lives and La revolucion no la para nadie, both from 1976, encourage the revolutionary struggle against the Pinochet dictatorship. In Forch’s other film, Chile (1976), he portrays the US as being behind the 1973 military coup. Finally, the film Rosaura (1978) by Lothar Barke is based on a poem by Juan Forch and symbolizes an idea of humanity that is always striving forward. Another Chilean exile, the painter Hernando León, who still lives in Dresden today, is responsible for the artistic design of the film.
