Etuk Ubong & The Etuk Philosophy
Concert

Composer and producer Etuk Ubong plays trumpet and keyboard and orchestrates his own arrangements. Through his visionary spiritual approach, he connects the ritualistic beat of the Ekombi dance from his native Nigeria with traditional sounds of highlife, Afrobeat, and jazz. His compositions are inspired by nature, the elements of water, air, and fire, resulting in a sound he defines as ‘Earthmusic’. Highly energetic, Ubong’s works are inspired by Fela Kuti’s approach of developing a sociopolitical consciousness through music, as demonstrated in the songs ‘African Struggle’ and ‘Mass Corruption’.
