Ixmucané Aguilar is a visual artist, who graduated from Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin. Through multi-layered documentary photography, she engages in extensive field research in collaboration with communities affected by political layers and historical forms of violence. Her work is guided by a focus on collective memory in the face of social injustice and colonial inheritances. Her artistic work has been featured at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, at the Bamako Photography Biennale, and as solo exhibition at the National Art Gallery of Namibia. Aguilar was raised across Latin America, now lives and works in Berlin.
