Jean-Luc Raharimanana is an author and poet. He completed a degree in literature at the university in Antananarivo, Madagascar, and joined a theatre group for which he wrote his first play Le Prophète et le Président (1989) which was awarded the Tchicaya-U’Tamsi Prize. He then went to Paris and studied at Sorbonne University. His stories are marked by a rich tension between style and content. In his work, legends and old superstitions are juxtaposed with contemporary political events. His most recent work, La Voix, le Loin (The voice, the Far, 2024), is a performance with music, chants and recital. Raharimanana is a nomad, living and creating between the Indian Ocean and Europe.
