For the finissage of this year’s Middle Ground, Jean-Luc Raharimanana contemplates the flaws of history imprinted on neglected bodies. His words are raw, stirring the senses and challenging the audience’s comfortable detachment. Guided by the strings of his marovany, he laughs, not in celebration of cruelty, but as a means of resisting it. In doing so, Raharimanana aims to confront the injustices upheld by dominant narratives, reclaiming and letting echo those voices which have been marginalized as a result.

Due to the 2024 Berlin Marathon, between 27–29 September there are road closures in the area. HKW is fully accessible via public transport—S-Bahn (Hauptbahnhof) and U-Bahn (Bundestag)—and via bike or on foot.
