Josefina Báez (Dominican Republic/USA) is a celebrant, artist, storyteller, performer, writer, theatre director, educator, and devotee. She is the founder and director of Latinarte/Ay Ombe Theatre (1986). Her work explores the present and its encounters with the past and future. The hyper-quotidian, the sublime, and their transitions sing and dance in the oraliterature realm. She developed the practice of Performance Autology, which is based on her own learning, healing, and creating. Joy is the vital element present in her narrative, practice, and teachings.
