With Torhaus Koch Kollektiv (Andreas Hochenauer, Katerina Papa, Danny Liu, Felix Polomsky, Pino Kolodziej, May Franzen) in collaboration with Samie Blasingame

Food, sustainability, and community are the three main tenets of Torhaus Koch Kollektiv: a grassroots movement of international activists with a shared passion for cooking. As part of the Berlin network LebensMittelPunkte, the collective strives for a locally anchored transformation of the food system towards sustainable agriculture. The members give free workshops and regularly host Küfas. Short for Küchen für alle (kitchens for all), at such events rescued food is processed and eaten together, with the aim of contributing to a more sustainable, community-oriented world.

The two-day workshop Food for Thought, addresses questions around food systems, which include ecosystems, people, materials, processes, infrastructures and institutions. Over the course of the workshop participants explore the relationships between these different actors, identifying opportunities for positive change through collective action.

The first day kicks off with a network mapping exercise tracking food systems in Berlin, moderated by Torhaus Koch Kollektiv member  Andreas Hochenauer in collaboration with  Samie Blasingame, a social and climate justice facilitator. Through mapping and understanding the relations within these networks, participants are empowered to contribute to their transformation.

On the second day, knowledge is put into practice. At HKW, Torhaus Koch Kollektiv explore what constitutes a Küfa.
