Within the framework of Middle Ground, the open mic night Voice, Echo, and Location is a celebration of the power of the spoken word, an exploration of our shared humanity through diverse voices and experiences. It is an opportunity to delve into the intricate web of relationships that form the rich literary traditions that connect the Horn of Africa and the Indian Ocean, and explore how these connections have shaped literature, culture, and identity.

Moderated by Jumoke Adeyanju, the evening is complemented by musical interventions by Pachakuti.

Due to the 2024 Berlin Marathon, between 27–29 September there are road closures in the area. HKW is fully accessible via public transport—S-Bahn (Hauptbahnhof) and U-Bahn (Bundestag)—and via bike or on foot.
